OOAK DOLLS

Everyone is a One Of A Kind Doll.

All my dolls are OOAK dolls - individually designed and crafted from start to finish by myself, here in London. With the only exception being any woollen clothing which is knitted by my mother Brenda.

My dolls are a stuffed cloth doll with either a cloth or a clay face.

Clay Faces

The clay faces are made using a clay over cloth technique. These are in fact cloth heads with a clay overlay.

I never use molds for the clay, so every face is a unique hand sculpted design.

Clay faces are all hand painted and varnished.

Unlike porcelain these will not shatter if dropped on a hard floor (but they may dent a little).

Cloth Faces

The cloth faces are entirely hand embroidered and needle sculpted. Features, such as eyes and lashes, are precisely stitched.

The noses are often needle sculpted, using thread to pinch features from the cloth head.

Cloth face dolls may also have some hand painted features.

Rag Dolls

My rag dolls are a little more robust and child friendly than my other dolls.

Instead of button joints I hand sew on the limbs to the body. The head is flat faced and cut all in one with the body.

Their intricate facial features are hand embroidered and they all wear their very own one off designed outfit.

No two Diamond Hill Dolls are ever the same. All Diamond Hill Dolls are OOAK dolls, each signed and dated on the doll itself underneath the clothing.

Not only is every face an individual but each doll also has a unique outfit designed just for her. Using suitably fantastic fabrics I make whatever she wears, right down to the undergarments.

Using my jewellery skills I also create crowns, accessories and jewelry for my OOAK dolls.

Every doll has her own hair style. I make the dolls hair from quality materials like Tibetan lambswool, mohair and Peruvian wool.

All my OOAK dolls have the old fashioned method of button joints at the shoulders and hips and the limbs are sewn that allow for movement so they can be easily posed.

Hands may be cloth or clay. Delicate fingers can be hand sewn and lightly stuffed.

OOAK Dolls Materials

I use fantastic quality materials throughout my OOAK dolls. I buy fair-trade where possible and I recycle materials. My doll making is eco-friendly using natural fabrics where possible, and tea and coffee dyes.

Safety standard stuffing is used throughout in all my OOAK dolls. For dolls with painted faces the paint is non-toxic.

Please take a look at my available dolls using the menu on the top left. You can choose to look at either only clay face dolls or cloth face dolls.

I can make any of my doll types as a custom doll made to your requirements.
